About the course instructor

 

                 Dr. Allyson Eamer                     

    Dr. Allyson Eamer is an Associate Professor at the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University. Her teaching and research focus on bilingualism, multilingualism, and critical disability studies, integrating diverse perspectives to understand the complexities of language and identity in educational settings. In courses like "Teaching English Language Learners", "Independent Inquiry/Internship", and "Equity and Diversity". Dr. Allyson helps to develop the knowledge and skills needed to teach effectively in multicultural and multilingual classrooms. Her teaching approach is highly student-centered, incorporating task-based learning and communicative language teaching to encourage critical thinking and practical application of knowledge.

    Dr. Allyson’s approach to teaching was instrumental in creating a rich and engaging learning environment throughout the course. Her ability to make complex topics accessible and relevant enabled us to deeply interact with the material, fostering a deeper understanding of multilingualism and diverse educational settings.
