In the course Academic Writing”, Dr. Allyson assigned us a collaborative task to contribute a post on the Faculty of Education wiki. My partner Kathy and I chose to introduce the SPIDER Search Strategy Tool, a research tool that we found both innovative and useful for academic writing.

After sharing our idea with Dr. Allyson, she was very supportive, providing guidance and answering our questions. Together, we held three online and offline sessions to finalize our content and divide the work effectively. Kathy’s strengths in technology and presentation helped us create a visually engaging post, while my strengths in synthesizing information allowed me to organize the content coherently.

We meticulously proofread each other’s work, ensuring that our final post met the requirements of the assignment such as the 250-word length, proper APA 7th edition citations, and the prescribed format. This process was crucial in producing a polished outcome that contributed a new tool to the wiki, a valuable addition to academic writing resources. Throughout the process, we learned about the SPIDER tool and the importance of clear communication and teamwork. This experience also underscored the necessity of combining different strengths to achieve a common goal, emphasizing the value of cooperative learning in enhancing academic work (The Core Collaborative, 2024).

In conclusion, by contributing to the Faculty of Education wiki, we not only fulfilled the assignment requirements but also enriched the academic community with a valuable research tool. This project highlighted the role of cooperative learning and the importance of combining individual strengths to achieve success.
